Why Instagram Sucks

Instagram might be the most popular social media platform, but it also might be the worst. Instagram has been a big staple in social media since it went on the app store in 2010. It was seen as a better facebook for younger kids, where they could post a shitty meme and not have their mom see it and get mad at them. But now Instagram sucks and is full of bots and money grabbers that give no shits if they recycle the same 10 memes and photos every other week.
Instagram has made a lot of changes over the years, but the biggest one was when they completely switched the logo. They went from a cool, what looked like a polaroid camera, to something that every public school 6th grader could make after one day in computer class. It was all downhill from here.
After the update, Instagram changed the way that the feed showed up and it went from chronological order (which is the only LOGICAL thing that would make sense), to I don’t even know... they just throw out whatever, whenever. And it has gotten worse over time as now when you are up to date with your followings' posting, you can’t even scroll back through to see it again. Some stupid ass clock comes up and says, “YoUr aLl CAugHt Up”... well I know that Instagram, and I would like to see them again while I crack open my 3rd Arnold Palmer on a Sunday afternoon with football on in the background. Then afterwards you can’t scroll through your feed anymore and you are reliant on your explore page which is a whole different nightmare.
The explore page is terrible because it's the same cycle of pictures but on different bot accounts (that are so clearly bots), but Instagram doesn't care because it makes them money. The same cycle of pictures are posted, but this time with an unfunny tweet or Reddit post attached to it which is basically suburban dad humor. The worst in my opinion, are sport fan pages that post a play or a trade months or years after it had already happened and the caption is, “Thoughts 😱😱😱'' then you scroll down to just so many hashtags that you get hungry for hash browns. And now the bots have gotten smarter and turn their pictures into a video so they can be considered Instagram Reels, which is basically Tik Tok for the people that say Tik Tok is stupid (but the Tok is definitely the superior social media). And when you tap the video to see it on your explore page, it immediately goes to the next post so you have to scroll back up, making it the second time you view the post, which makes you feel like a monkey in a lab!
The last thing I am going to yell at Instagram for is not really the gram’s fault, but more of the people who use it. Big social media pages suck so much that it's not worth my time getting angry at... except for this time. If you follow ESPN or any sports page with more than a million followers, they all post the same things, but they all do it at different times unless it's news of some sort. The amount of times I have seen the video of the dad hitting a wiffle ball off of his daughter on big sport pages is actually insane. And don’t even get me started on the Rap instagram page. They post anything but rap, and when they do it's some unknown underground artist from Soundcloud that no one has heard of.
The only thing that is keeping Instagram afloat right now is Kanye West who is calling out Kim Kardashian about not being able to see his kids, and the mainstream media has not even batted an eye which is absolutely crazy when you think about it. Two of the biggest celebrities of the 21st century who just got divorced, and Kim won’t let Kanye see his kids. It should be all over the media but it's not because Kim K is a way better person somehow than the greatest artist of all time. Stupid hoe.
Instagram was once an all-time great in the social media biz, but is now a toxic place where pages just want views and likes, and give not a single damn about the garbage that they post. Tik Tok has taken over and thank god, however even that has a lot of its own money grabbing issues but the content is much, much better. Overall Instagram needs to look itself in the mirror and find out what they are. They have all the tools for a great social media platform, but they have a guy with Parkinson's turning the wrench.
